Softball Game Preview: Central Spartans vs. Calexico Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Central will face off against Calexico. The Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Central's last matchup with Calexico could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Spartans came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 7-1. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexia Rubio, who went 1-for-4 with one double. Lia Moreno also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Calexico is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
