Brady Hughes turned in nothing short of a gem on Thursday, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fifth in a row with two or fewer walks. For the season, he has an ERA of 1.01 over 28.2 innings pitched.

Looking ahead, Hughes and Wachusett Regional will take on Algonquin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mountaineers had to take a loss when they last met the Titans, but Hughes had little to do with the loss: he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk).
