Baseball Game Preview: Archer Tigers vs. Dunwoody Wildcats

The Archer Tigers will face off against the Dunwoody Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Archer took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Grayson with a sharp 10-1 victory.

The team relied heavily on Apollo Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Mason Cummings was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Dunwoody came tearing into Thursday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rams a 15-0 shutout. 15 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Declan Gallagher looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Andrew Ainsworth was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That hit was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Thayer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Dunwoody pushed their record up to 27-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Archer, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-9.
