Basketball Recap: Columbia Extends Winning Streak to Four

Columbia won the last time they faced Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Columbia Blue Devils enjoyed a cozy 52-34 win over the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Spartans are ranked 180th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alivia Landy, who posted 16 points. Kendyl Ouimette was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Despite the defeat, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake had strong showings from Emma Larson, who put up nine points and three blocks, and Taniyah Monforte, who had 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Larson is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Columbia, bringing their record for this year to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Columbia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-34 victory against Schenectady on the 19th. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-40 loss against Ballston Spa on the 19th.
