Softball Game Preview: Weston Ranch Cougars vs. River Islands Riptide

The Weston Ranch Cougars will take on the River Islands Riptide at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Weston Ranch is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs last Monday, they were much more limited against Bear Creek on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 14-2. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Baylee Santiago was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Santiago is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, River Islands lost 20-6 to Delhi on Wednesday.

Weston Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for River Islands, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Weston Ranch came out on top in a nail-biter against River Islands in their previous matchup on March 2nd, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Riptide have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
