Football Recap: Esperanza Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Esperanza had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 27-7 margin over the El Modena Vanguards. Considering the Aztecs have won four matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Gribben had another great game (as she tends to do), rushing for 41 yards and one touchdown. She also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making three total tackles and defending two passes.

Esperanza didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Alisa Fair.

Esperanza's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for El Modena, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Esperanza wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-6 win against Mission Viejo on the 23rd. As for El Modena, they will head out on the road to face off against Trabuco Hills at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Vanguards 11.6, the Mustangs 14) so any points scored will be well earned.
