Softball Recap: Griffith Beats Hammond Bishop Noll for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Griffith waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 on Monday.

Cheyanne Fant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elena Rivas was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Morgan Von Ogden was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Griffith's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they dropped their record down to 6-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Griffith will challenge Hammond Morton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Governors have averaged an impressive 13.3 runs per game this season. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they will face off against Illiana Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
