Basketball Game Preview: Stranahan Mighty Dragons vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders + Official Tickets

The Stranahan Mighty Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Stranahan made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Calvary Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mighty Dragons fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 74-71 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Mighty Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Eagles are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Bell Creek Academy 78-37. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for St. Thomas Aquinas and bumps their season record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.5 points over those games. As for Stranahan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Stranahan couldn't quite finish off St. Thomas Aquinas in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 49-46. Can the Mighty Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
