Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Acalanes

Acalanes had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Vintage on Thursday. Acalanes was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Vintage. That looming 7-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dons yet this season.

Branson Smith looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on James Stadt, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. David Gonzales was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Acalanes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Acalanes' fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vintage, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
