Baseball Recap: Elbert County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Elbert County proved they can win big last Monday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Clarke Central Gladiators. The win was familiar territory for the Blue Devils, who have now won three games in a row.

Haven Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Elbert County is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Elbert County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyvis McClendon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. McClendon is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Elbert County's record is now 5-3. As for Clarke Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elbert County will face off against Hart County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clarke Central, they will take on Stony Brook at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
