Volleyball Recap: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Summit Country Day Silver Knights
After flying high against Indian Hill on Thursday, Madeira came back down to earth. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summit Country Day Silver Knights on Saturday.
Madeira started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-23, 25-9, 25-14.
Lucy Gianni paced Madeira's offense, picking up eight kills. Gianni got some help from Dee Dee O'Malley and her 22 assists. Evie Schiller controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
Summit Country Day was led to victory by Molly Anderson and Rylee Jewell. Anderson had 13 digs, while Jewell had 20 digs, four aces, and two blocks. What's more, Jewell posted four assists, the most she's had over her last six matches.
Madeira's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Summit Country Day, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
