Soccer Recap: Phoenix Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Shining Light Academy on April 8th, Phoenix Academy came back down to earth. The Firebirds lost 9-0 to the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals on Thursday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Phoenix Academy haven't been shut out since back in March.

Phoenix Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Cornerstone Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-2.

Looking ahead, Phoenix Academy will challenge Shining Light Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Phoenix Academy will be up against Shining Light Academy's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.29 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will head out on the road to take on Piedmont Classical at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
