Softball Game Preview: Leslie County Eagles vs. Wolfe County Wolves

The Leslie County Eagles will square off against the Wolfe County Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Leslie County couldn't beat Perry County Central on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Commodores by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Maddi Coots made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Royce Osborne was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Breathitt County hit Wolfe County with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves lost 11-5 to the Bobcats. Wolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bobcats since Tuesday.

Wolfe County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Holbrook, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Another was Raygen Holbrook, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Leslie County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Wolfe County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Leslie County got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Wolfe County by a conclusive 15-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
