Football Recap: Sunnyside Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Thursday just wasn't the day for Sunnyside's offense. They took a hard 19-0 fall against the Roosevelt Rough Riders on Thursday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rough Riders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Leading Roosevelt to victory were Ehis Idoni and Cj Barker. Idoni rushed for 158 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, while Barker rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Those 138 rushing yards gave Barker a new career-high.

Sunnyside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Roosevelt, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Looking ahead, Sunnyside will look to defend their home field on the 10th against Hoover at 7:30 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Johnathan Diaz and Cam Mobley. As for Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to take on McLane at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rough Riders will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
