Baseball Recap: Saddleback Triumphs

Saddleback posted their closest win since April 1st on Friday. They skirted past the Magnolia Sentinels 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Roadrunners: when they faced off against the Sentinels on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-3 defeat.

Diego Enriquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Saddleback is 8-2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Saddleback let Ruben Gutierrez and Anthony Lopez run wild. Gutierrez went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Lopez went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Lopez has posted since back in March. Joaquin Cornejo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Saddleback has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Magnolia, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Saddleback does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Magnolia, they have already played their next match, an 8-3 defeat against La Quinta on the 6th.
