Football Game Preview: Westville Tigers vs. Clifton Central Comets

The Westville Tigers will square off against the Clifton Central Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Clifton Central will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Westville extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Tigers claimed a resounding 63-28 victory over Oakwood. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 56-14.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Clifton Central on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Watseka out of the water with a 67-20 final score. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Clifton Central's win came from a few key players Westville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Evan Cox, who rushed for 53 yards and three scores. Brady Shule was another key player, throwing for 274 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clifton Central's defense and their four sacks. Watseka's QB won't forget Brody O'Connor anytime soon given he sacked him twice. O'Connor is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Westville's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Clifton Central, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
