Basketball Game Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Springfield Tigers

Mineral Ridge hasn't had much luck against Springfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mineral Ridge Rams will head out to face off against the Springfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Mineral Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.

While Mineral Ridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Lordstown 60-25. The match marked the Rams' most dominant win of the season so far.

Chase Moore was his usual excellent self, putting up 26 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Shaffer, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Springfield was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 40-39 to Columbiana. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Clippers are ranked 112th).

Mineral Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Mineral Ridge ended up a good deal behind Springfield in their previous matchup back in February, losing 56-39. Can Mineral Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
