Softball Recap: Delta Charter Sets Scoring Season-High Against River Islands

Delta Charter's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the River Islands Riptide as Delta Charter made off with a 12-6 win. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Aaliyah Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Evelyn Gutierrez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Madyson Torres was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Delta Charter's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for River Islands, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delta Charter will square off against Elliot Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delta Charter is facing Elliot Christian at the right time seeing as Elliot Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for River Islands, they will face off against Millennium at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Millennium will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something River Islands surely won't give up without a fight.
