Baseball Game Preview: Resurrection Catholic Eagles vs. Gautier Gators

The Resurrection Catholic Eagles will head out to challenge the Gautier Gators at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Resurrection Catholic fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lumberton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Gautier lost 13-1 to Forrest County Agricultural on Tuesday.

Resurrection Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Gautier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Resurrection Catholic took their win against Gautier in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 26-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Resurrection Catholic since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
