Basketball Recap: J.T. Barlow Key Part of Team Effort in Jaguars Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Hillcrest took on Monroe County on Wednesday. The Hillcrest Jaguars came out on top against the Monroe County Tigers by a score of 66-58. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 49-45 win back in January.

Hillcrest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was J.T. Barlow, who posted 18 points and three steals. The game was Barlow's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Jontavuis Lett was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

Hillcrest has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points over those games. As for Monroe County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.

Hillcrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-40 defeat against Bayside Academy on the 8th. As for Monroe County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-52 loss against Mobile Christian on the 8th.
