Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Ridge Riverhawks vs. Preston Indians

Canyon Ridge is 0-5 against Preston since January of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Canyon Ridge Riverhawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Preston Indians at 7:30 p.m.

Canyon Ridge is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thunder Ridge. While losing is never fun, the Riverhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Titans are ranked 27th).

Despite the defeat, Canyon Ridge got top-tier performance from Mason Hill, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards. Hill is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was David Rothweiler, who posted five points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Preston waltzed into their game on Wednesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They walked away with a 67-54 victory over the Thunder.

Preston pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Canyon Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Canyon Ridge might still be hurting after the 68-46 defeat they got from Preston in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Canyon Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
