Basketball Recap: Elgin Comes Up Short

Elgin lost against East View back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elgin Wildcats were dealt a 57-20 loss at the hands of the East View Patriots. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Despite the defeat, Elgin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Alasia Brown posted five points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Elgin has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season. As for East View, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-18.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hendrickson the next time they take the court. East View will head out to face Hendrickson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Elgin will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th.
