Basketball Recap: Jakobe Bruton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leto over Gaither

Leto and Gaither squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Leto had to settle for second. They fell 70-62 to the Gaither Cowboys. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Leto's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakobe Bruton, who went 8 of 16 en route to 22 points. The match was Bruton's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneth Riggs, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Among those leading the charge was Ryan Hamilton, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryan Hamilton, who earned 12 points.

Leto's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Gaither, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season.

Leto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gaither, they will take on Evans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Evans' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 games.
