Softball Recap: Hayes Wins Going Away Against Westland

Hayes's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They put the hurt on the Westland Cougars with a sharp 15-0 win. The Pacers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.

Hannah McAllister made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hayes got a massive performance out of Natalie Koschalk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those hits marked the first that Koschalk has got this season. Lizzy Gould was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Hayes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westland only posted an OBP of .167.

Hayes' victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Westland, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Hayes has already played their next game, a 12-1 win against Worthington Kilbourne on the 15th. As for Westland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 22-3 loss against St. Francis DeSales on the 15th.
