Softball Recap: Vasquez Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arleta, Vasquez was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chavez Eagles, sneaking past 6-4.

The team relied heavily on Sadie Mendoza, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Faith Nasrallah was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

Vasquez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chavez only posted an OBP of .379.

Vasquez has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Chavez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vasquez will challenge Santa Clarita Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chavez, they will head out to square off against Verdugo Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dons have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
