Volleyball Recap: Santa Paula Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Santa Paula was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rio Mesa Spartans. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Spartans when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22.

Destiny Barrios paced Santa Paula's offense, picking up two kills. Barrios really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with two. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Santa Paula's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rio Mesa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Santa Paula is taking a road trip to challenge Hueneme at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Cardinals their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Rio Mesa, they will be playing at home against Foothill Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
