Galena Park put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Carnegie Vanguard Rhinos. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Yellowjackets have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Jacob Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hector Arrieta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Galena Park pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.4 runs thus far. As for Carnegie Vanguard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Galena Park will head out on the road to challenge Westbury at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Carnegie Vanguard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Milby at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buffs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Rhinos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
