Baseball Recap: Delavan-Darien Has No Trouble Against East Troy

Delavan-Darien was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against East Troy on Tuesday. The Comets were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Huff made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin O'Grady, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Haaken Hovestol was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Delavan-Darien's victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1. As for East Troy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Delavan-Darien will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
