Softball Recap: Southington Takes Down Ranked New Canaan

Southington faced New Canaan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Blue Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams, sneaking past 4-3. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Shelby Jordan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Delaney Archer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Southington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for New Canaan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Southington nor New Canaan have any future games scheduled.
