Baseball Recap: Plymouth Big Red vs. Crestview Cougars
Plymouth had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 8-8 to make it four. They fell 7-4 to the Crestview Cougars. If the Big Red were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Lex Grose made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Keegan Beverly was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
As for Crestview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Crestview's side, Tyson Ringler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Ringler has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Kayn Patton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Barker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
While Plymouth had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
