West Carroll hasn't had much luck against Stockton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Thunder will square off against the Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, West Carroll came up short against East Dubuque and fell 2-0.
West Carroll might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on East Dubuque: every set was decided by exactly two points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Stockton posted their closest victory since September 17th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over River Ridge. The victory continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
In the two sets Stockton was on fire: they won each by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-13, 25-10.
West Carroll better focus on containing Natalee Sullivan and Kaydra Wright as the pair were huge in Stockton's win. Sullivan had seven digs and four aces, while Wright had four digs, three aces, and one block. Wright has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 32 times she's played.
Stockton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Ridge only served one.
West Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Stockton, their record now sits at 28-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: West Carroll has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Stockton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
