Soccer Game Preview: Cambridge Academy vs. Beaufort Academy

The Cambridge Academy Cougars will take on the Beaufort Academy Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cambridge Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Cambridge Academy proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by four) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Charleston Collegiate 2-1.

Addison Leopard and Sophie Wilson scored both of Cambridge Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Beaufort Academy walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Knights on Thursday as they made off with a 4-1 victory. Beaufort Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by three goals or more this season.

Cambridge Academy pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five games. As for Beaufort Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Cambridge Academy couldn't quite get it done against Beaufort Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-2. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
