Baseball Game Preview: Lapel Bulldogs vs. Tipton Blue Devils

The Lapel Bulldogs will face off against the Tipton Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Lapel's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Tipton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lapel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Elwood get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Tipton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Blackhawks by a score of 15-11.

Tipton got a massive performance out of Nick Nasser, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave Nasser a new career-high. Caleb Hare was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tipton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lapel is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Tipton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.

Everything went Lapel's way against Tipton when the teams last played on May 1st, as Lapel made off with a 15-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
