Basketball Recap: Mount Vernon Takes a Loss

Mount Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 75-28 defeat at the hands of the Rains Wildcats. The Tigers lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 44-35 score last time.

Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Rains, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Mount Vernon will take on Winnsboro at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rains, they will square off against Prairiland at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rains knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Prairiland likes a good challenge.
