Softball Game Preview: East Jackson Trojans vs. Stockbridge Panthers

The East Jackson Trojans will take on the Stockbridge Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. East Jackson has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 23.

East Jackson blew Vandercook Lake out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Vandercook Lake got their revenge. The Trojans fell just short of the Jayhawks by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Kilah Boatright was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Boatright was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Addison Hendricks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Worthing, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Stockbridge got the win against Adrian on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Stockbridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for East Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

East Jackson came out on top in a nail-biter against Stockbridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
