Preview: Brainerd Panthers vs. Giles County Bobcats
Brainerd has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Giles County Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brainerd was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Sweetwater by a score of 22-14. The victory was just what Brainerd needed coming off of a 49-20 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Giles County entered their tilt with Sequatchie County with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Giles County simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Sequatchie County 41-7 at home. Considering Giles County has won six matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Giles County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zori Randolph, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Randolph was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards. Another player making a difference was Kamauri A turner, who gained 128 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Giles County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Caleb Oates and his three sacks.
Brainerd is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Giles County, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Brainerd was taken down by Giles County 46-8 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Brainerd have more luck at home instead of on the road?
