Softball Game Preview: Willits Wolverines vs. Healdsburg Greyhounds

The Willits Wolverines will face off against the Healdsburg Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Willits took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Credo 13-3. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Lisa Arkelian made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Alexandra Ramos was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Holmen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Willits always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Credo only posted an OBP of .227.

Healdsburg played against Santa Rosa on Monday and won via forfeit.

Willits' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Healdsburg, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
