Softball Preview: Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes vs. Sevier County Smoky Bears

Morristown-Hamblen East has gone a perfect 10-0 against Sevier County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hurricanes will look to defend their home field against the Smoky Bears at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morristown-Hamblen East has three straight wins, Sevier County has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ella Wampler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jaycee Hamilton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Ava Combs was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Sevier County came up short against Eagleton College & Career Academy on Tuesday, falling 14-3.

Sevier County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Hubbard, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Sevier County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
