Basketball Recap: Western Hills Takes a Loss

After flying high against Carter-Riverside last Thursday, Western Hills came back down to earth. The Western Hills Cougars fell 51-38 to the Bowie Jackrabbits on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 57-42 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bowie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rayder Mann, who posted 15 points. Mann continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gaige Goodman, who put up ten points.

Western Hills has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Bowie, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Burkburnett the next time they take the court. Western Hills will head out to face Burkburnett at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Bowie will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
