Basketball Recap: First Coast Drops Highest Score of Season Against Wolfson

First Coast scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Wolfson Wolfpack by a score of 51-49. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sha'Niah Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 boards. The dominant performance gave Bennett a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Halima Saad, who posted 20 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, First Coast was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Wolfson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Timmerman led the charge by putting up 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Persephone Colon, who had 15 points.

First Coast's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4. As for Wolfson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

First Coast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-35 loss against Westside on the 12th. As for Wolfson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-22 defeat against Sandalwood on the 13th.
