Basketball Recap: South Shelby Piles Up the Points Against Van-Far

South Shelby's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Van-Far Indians 66-34. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Indians are ranked 83rd).

Despite the loss, Van-Far still got an impressive performance from Pacey Reading, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points. That was a full 44.1% of Van-Far's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Utterback, who scored eight points.

South Shelby's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Van-Far, they moved to 12-2 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Shelby will face off against Louisiana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Van-Far, they will challenge Bowling Green at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
