Softball Preview: Coffee County Central Red Raiders vs. Columbia Central Lions
Coffee County Central is 9-1 against Columbia Central since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Lily Norman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other pitching news, Yeidy Cruz looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Paisley Campbell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Savannah Cooper, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Columbia Central's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11. As for Coffee County Central, their win bumped their record up to 21-12.
