Merced put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the El Capitan Gauchos 63-6. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 32 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merced to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dougie Andrews, who rushed for 89 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Andrews a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicente Cortez, who threw for 270 yards and one TD while completing 88.2% of his passes.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isayah Smith, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Merced's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Brandon Peel with two. The game marked his first with multiple sacks this season.

Merced's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for El Capitan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
