Baseball Recap: South Beloit Beats Schaumburg Christian for Their Fifth Straight Victory

South Beloit had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They beat the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 on Tuesday.

JT Sanders was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gage Pasiecznik, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zane Hagstrom, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

South Beloit pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Schaumburg Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Beloit will take on Forreston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sobos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Schaumburg Christian, they will square off against Marian Central Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
