Softball Recap: Haverford Has No Trouble Against Penncrest

While Haverford put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Penncrest. The Fords put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Fords, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Olivia Carter's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ali Daly and Brenna Carfrey did most of the damage at the plate: Daly went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Carfrey went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Daly has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maya Hubley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Haverford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Penncrest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Haverford will head out on the road to face off against Valley Forge Military Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Penncrest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ridley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
