Baseball Recap: South Point Has No Trouble Against Dawson-Bryant

South Point never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Dawson-Bryant Hornets as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Pointers haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ethan Laslo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, South Point let Brayden Hanshaw and Ethan Layne run wild. Hanshaw went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Layne scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave Hanshaw a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Lobaldo, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

South Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dawson-Bryant only posted an OBP of .391.

South Point's record now sits at 2-3. As for Dawson-Bryant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, South Point will head out on the road to face off against Gallia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dawson-Bryant, they will host Piketon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redstreaks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.4 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
