Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Poway Titans

Bonita Vista and Poway are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bonita Vista Barons will take on the Poway Titans in a tournament on Thursday. Bonita Vista will be strutting in after a victory while Poway will be coming in after a loss.

Bonita Vista had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Rancho Buena Vista on Monday. Bonita Vista was the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Rancho Buena Vista. The Barons haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Bonita Vista got a great performance from JACKSON HERNANDEZ as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 7.1 innings pitched. With that strong performance, HERNANDEZ is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on ADRIAN FIGUEROA, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-6. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was TYLER MAULA, who scored two runs while going 3-for-7.

Bonita Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Buena Vista only managed seven hits.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Poway and Cathedral Catholic meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. Poway took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cathedral Catholic.

Poway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Poway's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Bonita Vista, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Bonita Vista couldn't quite finish off Poway in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can Bonita Vista avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
