Basketball Game Preview: Tenino Beavers vs. Elma Eagles

The Tenino Beavers will head out to face off against the Elma Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tenino is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Tenino is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against R.A. Long on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tenino was dealt an 80-43 loss at the hands of R.A. Long. While losing is never fun, the Beavers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 60th).

Meanwhile, Elma earned a 57-49 victory over Aberdeen on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Tenino better keep an eye on Isaac McGaffey. He was instrumental in Elma's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. McGaffey has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Traden Carter, who went 5 of 8 en route to 17 points.

Elma is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Tenino, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Tenino beat Elma 63-52 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Elma's Cason Seaberg, who posted 22 points and five rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be easier for Tenino to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
