Volleyball Recap: Mercer Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Mercer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bayfield Trollers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trollers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Mercer started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-15.

Ryley Saarnio paced Mercer's offense, picking up ten kills. Saarnio got some help from Stella Thompson and her 13 assists. Brooklynn Kussard controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Mercer's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Bayfield, their record now sits at 3-5.

Looking ahead, Mercer will challenge Solon Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bayfield, they will square off against Cadott on Saturday.
