Basketball Game Preview: McCormick Chiefs vs. Thornwell Saints

The McCormick Chiefs will head out to challenge the Thornwell Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Saturday, McCormick was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 38-37 to Abbeville.

Meanwhile, Thornwell played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Calhoun Falls Charter and fell 64-29. The Saints were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-8.

McCormick has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only two points. As for Thornwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

McCormick took their win against Thornwell in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 44-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for McCormick since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
